What does "sporterize" mean?

I work for the products of a sports shop and the products we sell military rifles library (M44, s 91/30 's', SKS, Enfield, etc.) From time to time I hear a speech to the customer on how they " sporterized "his gun, but do not know what that means. Please explain.

That means they have the stock and reduce gun light and it was easier to use as a hunting rifle.
