Dragons, gargoyles and other grotesques are a symbol of many things: protection, warning and power. Not surprisingly, that was used centuries in architecture.

However, when the first architecture, which has a very practical use. They were actually designed as fountains designed to keep rainwater from accumulating around damage Gothic cathedrals and castles and causing structures.

After a time, using the construction techniques that better protect buildings, these stone creatures became more of a decoration. Gargoyles were the original expression for the sculptures. And so this great building finished with a statue of a dragon modern class: the head of Darth Vader. And also that of a raccoon, a computer, a robot camera, and a host of other characters, including one with a gas mask designed to protect us in the future, a race to the technology and opportunities are not seen.

The next time you pass an old church, a loss of time or is still used for worship, closely examine the stone. You will be surprised to see how many gargoyles and dragons watch over us.
