You do not need to lead. Lead is good for radiation, but it would be expensive or Faraday shield EMP. Any conductive material (foil, wire, copper mesh, etc.) to protect your electronic equipment if their surroundings and are properly grounded (grounded). Also, keep your radio / cell phone operation, so that utility is rather dubious.
